We move to the Alfonso guesthouse, a minute's walk from Orav's. I stay inside nearly the whole day as I have explosive diarrhoea.
Later we walk down to the Kala Academy, the centre for Goan arts. Unfortunately there's nothing on for a few days. It's a modern arts centre with beautiful views over the water behind it. It's in the Campal district, which is a gloriously green, lush part of town. On the way back we get stopped by several policemen at a roadblock - apparently the Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, is coming to Panjim today to talk tactics with the Goa Chief Minister. After much complaining from the crowd the motorcade finally passes by, about 10 cars in all, but we can't really see the PM. We stop at a chemists and I buy some strong antibiotics for my bowels, which gives the two chemists the giggles and costs me Rs. 27.
