Day 155, Amritsar [Monday 5th May 2008]

Previous day: Day 154, Chandigarh [Sunday 4th May 2008]

Next day: Day 156, Amritsar, Golden Temple [Tuesday 6th May 2008]

I no longer have a fever, but I do stay in the room all day, alternately exhausted and asleep or suffering bouts of explosive diorrhoea.

Kate goes out to see the Golden Temple while I stay inside watching it being broadcast on TV. They have cameras inside recording the constant praying and singing, so if you wanted to you could come to all the way to Amritsar and see inside the Golden Temple without ever leaving your hotel room! Kate comes back with a pair of Punjabi jootis (shoes), a bag of cashew nuts and a box of halwa.

Luckily by the evening I feel a whole lot better, at least well enough to eat some rice and dal — the food of the sick and the old. We watch the Kings XI Punjab beath the Bangalore Royal Challengers by 6 wickets, taking them to the top of the table level with Shane Warne's Rajasthan Royals, both teams having 10 points. Later in the week Bangalore will fire both their CEO and coach.
