Day 1, England to India [Tuesday 4th December 2007]

I get the Hindi Urdu Bol Chaal program, the late night BBC language course, transferred from my Humax TV recorder to the PC, but fail to convert it to iPod format. I fill the iPod with a random selection of music instead, with as little British music as possible so hopefully I'll feel further away from home. I've got a Lonely Planet Hindi/Urdu guide with me too.
We go to Mum and Dad's on the way to Heathrow. Mum has made us a buffet of "English" food - ham sandwiches, pork pies, scotch eggs and coleslaw.
A glass of whiskey sends me to sleep on the plane. I don't watch any movies or listen to any music. The plane is half empty so there's plenty of room to stretch out.
